The Tuscawilla Historic District, An Interesting Ocala Spot

The Tuscawilla Park Historic District is a neighborhood in Ocala, Florida that is bounded by Watula Street, Sanchez Avenue, 2nd Street, Northeast 4th Street, and Tuscawilla Avenue. It is also known as "The Historic Park District". The district contains a total of 196 structures on its roughly 20 acres of land, and 37 of them are considered historic structures, including the Ocala Union Station and the Marion County Courthouse. On March 30, 1988, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

It's in Tuscawilla Park and close to both the Reilly Arts Center and the Ocala Symphony Orchestra, making it a wonderful place to spend the day exploring.


Fort King National Historic Landmark

Fort King was a military fort constructed in the United States in 1827. It was built on the east side of the Ocklawaha River in what is now Ocala's central business district. The fort bears the name of Colonel John B. King, who oversaw the Florida militia during the Second Seminole War. It was one of several forts the US Army constructed to defend settlers from Seminole raids. Fort King's original location now houses a museum and an educational center and is a National Historic Landmark.
